Seismic Vulnerability Assessment of Historical Masonry Buildings in Croatian Coastal Area

(1) Background: The protection of built heritage in historic cities located seismically active areas is great importance for the safety inhabitants. Systematic care and planning are necessary to detect seismic vulnerability buildings, order determine priorities rehabilitation projects continuously provide funds reconstruction buildings. (2) Methods: In this study, buildings center Kaštel Kambelovac, a Croatian settlement along Adriatic coast, has been assessed through an approach based on calculation indexes. consists stone masonry between 15th 19th centuries. method was derived from Italian GNDT approach, with some modifications resulting specificity investigated area. A new damage–vulnerability–peak ground acceleration relation developed using indexes yield collapse accelerations obtained non-linear static analysis. (3) Results: map, critical peak early damage states, index maps two return periods have predicted curves. (4) Conclusions: combination pushover analysis effective tool assessing building stock territorial scale.
